Heroic potential can be found in many different places. Beginning with Lost Galaxy more rebel like characters were introduced on the show. Leo Corbet is one of the most famous rebel Rangers in the series history. However to complete the story, you need someone for him to rebel against, that's where Mike comes in. Mike is Leo's older brother. He can be very over protective. He did not want Leo going into Outer space. Leo dared to follow him anyway. Furio attacks Mirinoi and chaos begins to unfold. The legendary Quasar Sabers are the prize, the villains want. When Mike picks up the first sword, he seems like an ideal hero. He's brave, strong, looks out for his friends and has a solid drive. However Furio casts a powerful spell and opens the planet's crust. Mike falls down, but passes his saber to Leo, saying he has really been proud of him all along. Then Mike is trapped inside the crevice. Leo now knows his brother always believed in him and he wants to fight onward in his brother's honor. Furio once tried to use Leo's passion against him with help from Mutanrum. Mutanrum disguised himself as Mike and gained Leo's trust. Mutanrum and Furio had the Rangers cornered, but Leo came back just in time to save the day and proved his real hero potential. Leo turned out to be a great leader and the team strove forward. Several episodes later they met the Magna Defender. This event was discussed in the previous article.
Mike returns for the second half of the season. In my opinion "Destined for Greatness" is one of the best episodes ever done for the entire series. Mike's epic quote "Destiny doesn't make Mistakes!" has a lot of wit and a great message. Leo and Mike learn from each other and come to recognize each other's strengths. The Magna Defender's spirit appears and passes his powers to Mike. Mike becomes the official sixth member of the team. Mike also gets back his job with GSA, (they run Terra Venture); which is why he can sometimes be hard to contact. I like Mike a lot. I do however wish there were more episodes that really delved into Mike and Leo's bond. However Thanks to Mike coming back we did get "Rescue Mission" another favorite of mine this season. Mike can be quirky sometimes. He can also be really serious. He reminds a lot of my brother Noah and my high school friend Brad. Mike Corbet is played by Russel Lawerence, Leo Corbet is played by Danny Slavin, and Haley the slave girl was played by Analisa Brouet. Mutanrum, Hexuba, and Nightmare were all voiced by actors from MMPR. Robert Axelrod = Lord Zedd and Mutanrum, Raija Baroudi = Delphine and Hexuba, and Walter Jones = Zack Taylor and Nightmare. Mike and Haley argued a lot in his final powers episode; however they had good chemistry and I liked them together. Mike also took a page from his brother's book and came up with a very reckless plan in that episode. Story title; "Escape the Lost Galaxy" So I guess he can be reckless too. He uses up the full power of Torozord saving the colony and almost killing himself. The Magna Defender comes back saying "You have served my legacy with honor." I also want to note Mike stopped Hexuba's dream plan with no powers at all. That was a neat final twist in the episode "Dream Battle" . Nightmare was a great witty monster too. It is too bad however Leo and Mike didn't get a final bond moment in "Journey's End". I would've liked to have seen that. Mike Corbet remains one of my favorite sixth Rangers. You can read more about Leo on here in the article; "My favorite Red Ranger!" Thanks for reading and stay tuned!
Nice you have some personal photos in addition to the Rangers. It might be nice to have a list of what the photos are that you put with each blog. I loved the quotation, "Destiny doesn't make mistakes." Perhaps you could write a story about a superhero called Destiny? Anyway, another great article. I am starting to really enjoy them. Glad about the length and content. Just note photos so I can know what's what.
