The Summer of Romance begins now. SOR is an abbreviation that will be used in all chapter headings.TJ and Cassie has been one of my favorite pairs for many years and it's popular with a lot of other fans. One thing a lot of people love is that they are so Different but still fit well together despite this. TJ is one of the most celebrated black characters on the show, not just for being the first one to wear Red and lead the team, but also because of his great magnetic personality. Even after TJ changed from Red to Blue, he still helped out with leadership and taught Andros some good pointers, since Andros didn't have a lot of team experience. TJ is played by Selwyn Ward. Cassie is also the first Asian Pink Ranger. Which makes them each a big first on the series. They were first introduced in the two part event "Passing The Torch." They met on bus and only TJ was first heading for Angel Grove. Cassie wanted to go to Stone Canyon. They were hanging out at a rest stop, when they spotted trouble in the forrest and go to help Katherine fight a group of Piranhatrons. Both showed incredible courage joining in the action, however after learning the extent of the situation including Tommy being captured and taken to a dangerous cave, only TJ went after Tommy at first. However despite Cassie's initial decline from facing more danger, she came back to help TJ, saying she had really begun to think of him as a friend and she wasn't going to leave a friend behind. They saved tommy together and are reunited at the ceremony to choose the New Turbo Rangers. They continue to show wonderful chemistry throughout Turbo and In Space. Cassie was also on hand to help TJ when he was recovering after a terrible fight with Psycho Blue.
In addition TJ was very upset when the Rangers learn of General Havoc's trap that snared Cassie. He was not at all enthusiastic about trusting the Phantom Ranger's plan to save Cassie although it's also possible he didn't like sacrificing one friend for another. Who wanted TJ to learn to be better at baseball? Cassie! Who cheered the loudest as Cassie's first rock show? TJ! Cassie also crushed on The Phantom Ranger, but we never truly tapped into how he feels about her. Lenny and George also seeked Cassie's attention. Their blackmail scheme with her stolen diary aside, Lenny turned out to be nice, but he and Cassie only went out twice. Still TJ has really had her back in tough fights. They talk about their worries and discuss battle strategies. TJ and Cassie also work together in the Super Megaforce event; "Legendary Battle." Officially not a cannon couple, but pretty darn close. Patricia Ja Lee and Selwyn Ward have also expressed a fondness for working together and really appreciate each other. This pair remains really special to me. I strongly appreciate TJ's take charge drive and Cassie's rebellious spirit. A wonderful PR match indeed. Even though I have sometimes wondered about the truth behind Phantom Ranger, I am strongly opposed to the idea that he is meant to be Cassie's protector. She's so feisty and energetic, she barely needs one. What she really she needs is a true partner like TJ! I personally see this pair racing right through to the finish line!
Good review of a fun romance! There's so much Power Ranger lore - good for you for keeping it fresh and informative.
I see why you chose them as your first SOR pairup. Too bad Power Rangers is rated G. Great photos on this one also. And 5 views already. Your blog is gaining popularity. Keep up the good work. The world needs love now, so let's have a great SOR.
