In addition to being a Power Rangers collector, I also like to think of myself as a Power Rangers experimenter. I love to come up with different ideas with my toys. Lately I have gotten really into collecting the recent Mighty Morphin Legacy figures. Of course some are more expensive than others so there are ones I do not have yet. I also discovered that despite the fact that each classic Ranger comes with their traditional Power Weapon, that these weapons in the legacy series are not able to combine into the Power Blaster. I knew this immediately after getting a Blue Ranger figure. On TV Billy can use his Power Lance as a combo weapon or separate it into two pieces. The two pieces attach to Kimberly's bow, alongside Trini's daggers, which then attaches on to Zack's Ax and finally Jason's sword goes on top. This incredible combo weapon was used in many episodes of the show and sometimes even defeated the monster. You can easily imagine how strong the desire of a young boy watching the heroes on TV was to someday create this weapon in real life and use it in conjunction with the figures. However the toy Blue Ranger's Power Lance does not separate making The Power Blaster impossible to form! Crazy, Right? So even though I was one toy away from having a complete Mighty Morphin Legacy set, I didn't buy a Legacy Pink Ranger. So for now I am using my movie version of Kimberly which has the Pterodactyl Thunder Whip instead of the Power Bow. However as a PR experimenter I was still determined to make a powerful combination. Since I couldn't get the weapons to combine, I turned to the Zords instead.

As I talked about in my article on Power Ranger toys and other products I have a complete Ninja Zord set. The Falcon Zord comes seperately and is kind of pricey. However both the main five zords and The Falcon Zord are available on Amazon for under 100 dollars. I also have a Dragon Zord figure. When Tommy defects to the side of the Rangers at the end of "Green with Evil" part 5 Zordon shows the Rangers how to create Dragonzord in Fighting Mode. This combo is also sometimes called Mega Dragonzord. The Dragonzord combines with the Mastodon, Sabertooth Tiger, and Triceratops zords to make Dragonzord in Fighting Mode. The classic Megazord was still quite commonly featured on the show since it was already very popular with fans, however this new combination also proved very useful in the Rangers' arsenal. Also down the line The Rangers merged all six zords to make a combination which was also referred to as the Mega DragonZord. One strong reason the names were mixed up is due to poor dialogue editing in the first season. I loved the idea of a four Zord combo instead of a five Zord combo. It was really tricky to do but I managed to create a new four Zord combo using my toys in a similar fashion although my combo is quite different. A big part of why the combo on TV was called Dragonzord in Fighting Mode, was because it looked very warrior-like. After putting my combination together I realized it looked more like a Fortress. My combo is created using the Ape, Wolf, and Crane, Ninja Zords in conjunction with the DragonZord. I call it The Mega Dragon Ninja Fortress. It looks like a Fortress because The Crane Zord goes in the center. The Ape and Wolf Zords help to balance the Fortress. Also since both The Crane Zord and The DragonZord have their faces out I gave it an attack called "Double Face Blast"! The Zords are controlled by Tommy as the Green Ranger, Billy as Blue, Rocky as Red, and Kimberly or Katherine as Pink. Katherine takes over as the Pink Ranger late into the Third season. Also My new MMPR T-shirt in the last picture was a going away gift from my job at the Thrift Store in Monroe. Finally I also managed to get the Dragonzord to attach on to the Ninja Falcon Megazord. However the combo of all seven Zords is really hard to move. So I like the four Zord combo better. I also appreciate this one more because it is more original. The Mega Dragon Ninja Fortress or M.D.N.F. has no hands but I have found that the Tail Spear included with the Dragonzord also makes a great Battle Missile. I love making up my own ideas. I hope to feature more on this blog in the Future.
