Greetings PR Fandom! This article will be the climax of my first Mighty Morphin Retrospective series! Now I shall add some more background notes on the "Green, No More" event! The title is a direct reference to a story that originally came from Spider-man. The Fiftieth issue was titled "Spider-man, No More" and this comic had Peter Parker face similar struggles to the ones Tommy faced. JDF and Stan Lee would meet years later at a comic convention in New Orleans. Their meeting happened on February 12th 2014! Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created Spider-man. Sam Rami and Shuki Levi, two big producers on Power Rangers also by coincidence worked on the 1967 Spider-man cartoon; One of the original Superhero Television shows. Sam and Shuki also worked on He-man in 1983 which also had a similar event with the title of "Prince Adam, No More." In He-man the plot was flipped around when Adam tried to show he could take his royal duties more seriously. I was also able to track down four of the five people who played the Dark Rangers. The Pink Dark Ranger's actress name remains a mystery. A mystery I will continue to search for the answer to. Here are the ones I was able to find. Yellow = Jhoana Trais, Red= Patrick Wolff, Black = Ogie Banks and Blue = Aaron Atinsky. Ogie Banks is the most famous of them because he went on to voice acting and even became part of the "Ultimate Spider-man" cartoon voicing the teen version of Luke Cage. Also in a way bringing the cycle full circle. Jhoana Trais has also been in a superhero feature. The live action 2005 John Constantine movie. Dark Ranger Info acquired from IMDb- Internet Movie DataBase. Here is a link to the meeting of Stan Lee and JDF on youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXJgaHqQZFc
In Part 2 Lord Zedd reveals more secrets of the Green Crystal. Including a forcefield that now holds Zordon and Alpha captive and is causing the Command Center to shrink. Tommy is still trapped with Turbanshell. Turbanshell taunts him calling him a coward. Insert cool battle line "I'm no Coward, Shell for Brains!" Turbanshell proves a powerful opponent. Meanwhile Lord Zedd and Goldar hold the other Rangers captive. Goldar wants to finish them off. However Lord Zedd decides to return them Earth and let them watch the planet's destruction firsthand. Billy suggests they go to his lab and try to contact alpha and Zordon from there. Goldar shows up in the other dimension and takes over Tommy's torture. Goldar uses a time device and taunts Tommy with scenes of his heroic fights. Kimberly and Trini see a TV broadcast of Turbanshell's attack on the city. Back in the other dimension Tommy kneels before Goldar's feet. Goldar says "Say I'm your Superior!" Tommy reaches inside himself and finds the spirit of a hero just like Spider-man in the first story. Tommy looks up and replies "Goldar, you are, out of your mind!" He turns the tables with wicked wild Karate moves. He also steals the time device. Tommy finds the balance of believing in himself with or without powers. He also states Goldar's slideshow ironically helped him break out of his self-doubt. Goldar retreats. Tommy decides to use the time device too contact himself in the past, setting up of the opening scene of the previous chapter. Tommy's time duplicate gives him a new communicator so he can leave the other Dimension. Meanwhile Billy successfully contacts Alpha on his computer and the team reunites. Zordon reveals only a non-ranger can go after Zedd. Tommy steps forward and is teleported by Alpha. Tommy surprises the villains and snatchs the Green Crystal and smashes it apart. Fast-forward to the city fight The Thunder Megazord is overpowered by Turbanshell. Tommy takes centerstage and bates the monster with a truckload of Watermelons. Zordon reveals Turbanshell can be weaken with combined hot and cold attacks. While Tommy uses the heatray on the inside, Zack blasts the monster with cold water outside. Turbanshell is overpowered and spits Tommy out. Tommy congratulates Billy for making the heat ray. Billy has the science knowledge like Spidey and Zack displays wild cockiness and tricky battlemoves like He-man. The Thunder Megazord is reformed and Turbanshell is defeated. The Dark Rangers are released with no memories of their powers or meeting Zedd. Kimberly suggests the others try a friendship approach. Jason picks up the drinktab and the teens agree to be friends. Tommy Oliver like the heroes before him learns that while his powers are incredible he has amazing strength inside as well. This episode ends with the classic hands in and air-jump used through out the first three seasons. Tommy would remember these events fondly and use fight moments from here for his video-dairy in Dino Thunder. This concludes the Mighty Morphin Retrospective Trilogy. Goldar played by Kerrigan Mahan and Billy the Blue Ranger played by David Yost are two grand stars I have met and hope to one day discuss my appreciation of their grand moments with. Maybe even have an event like Stan and JDF at Wizard World! Last picture done with action figures.
What a great bunch of stories. And wonderful photos this time, though sure perhaps too many. Yours and Stan Lee are great. Fine job tying together the parallel in Spiderman and PR stories. Another fine job, Max.
